Recently the Milstein Division of U.S. History, Local History and Genealogy has acquired close to fifty books of historical photographs from locations across the United States. Photographic books are not uncommon but generally focus on large cities like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles. Thanks for reading the Histories Blog. I'll look into this and write back with the information I find. I have a feeling that there is no one place for these images and for some of these directors there may not be any digitized photographs. There are however pictures of John Billings Shaw (like this one) in our digital gallery.
